Packaging manufacturer Weber Verpackungen from Wickede/Ruhr (Germany) presented completely new paper sleeve variants to visitors at IPM. The company showcased a wide range of packaging solutions for flowers, herbs, and salads at their stand.
Visitors had the chance to see the various material combinations and special shapes for themselves. The bloom guards were tailored 100% to meet specific customer requirements thanks to various equipment and customization options.
Trade fair attendees in Essen also had the opportunity to learn more about the pot packer packaging machine. The pot packer, developed and produced in-house by Weber, packed potted flowers and herbs so efficiently that horticultural businesses were able to boost their productivity significantly. Compared to manual hand-packing, the same number of pots were packed in a much shorter time. The pot packer handled up to 1400 pots per hour and was operated with minimal manpower. This allowed existing staff to be utilized more effectively, giving employees time for other value-adding tasks. For larger volumes, multiple pot packers could be synchronized in a line and operated with low personnel requirements. The uniform, automated process ensured a consistent, crease-free appearance for the packaged potted plants.
The pot packer was already in use at several horticultural businesses, and significant productivity improvements were achieved thanks to the machine.
Unlike standard packaging machines on the market, the pot packer was ideal for paper sleeves and could be converted to handle film sleeves with minimal effort. Since many horticultural businesses had already switched from film to paper sleeves for sustainability reasons or were planning to do so, the pot packer was the perfect machine solution for this target group. With its simple operation and quick setup, the pot packer proved to be highly flexible in its application.
