Increasingly extreme weather conditions, water shortages, and the struggle for higher yields – these are the realities farmers worldwide face today. The Italian company Arrigoni S.p.A., known for its innovations in agrotextiles, will showcase at Fruit Logistica 2025 in Berlin solutions that could help tackle these challenges.
Less Water, Better Yields
With the new Prisma® and Robuxta® heat-reflecting screens, Arrigoni claims to reduce water consumption and protect crops from increasingly aggressive solar radiation. The Robuxta® version, designed for tensile structures, can lower temperatures in shaded areas by up to 5°C, potentially increasing yields by as much as 70%.
Meanwhile, the Prisma® screens, designed for high-tech greenhouses, ensure more even light distribution, preventing plant damage and extending harvest periods. A three-year study in France found that greenhouses protected by these screens had temperatures up to 10°C lower than uncovered tunnels, with a 50% reduction in water usage.
The Story Behind the Numbers
Arrigoni is no newcomer to agriculture – with over 60 years of experience in developing agrotextiles, its products are widely used across Europe. What sets it apart from many other manufacturers is its focus on adapting to climate change without relying on chemical solutions.
Although these technological advancements provide solutions to current challenges, one question remains: will farmers in countries like Serbia have access to these innovations? Pricing, availability, and adaptability to local conditions still need to be tested in practice.
Arrigoni will showcase its heat-reflecting screens at stand B-32, hall 3.1, during Fruit Logistica 2025 in Berlin.
