The Sixth International Fruit, Vegetable, and Viticulture Fair, Agro Belgrade 2025, will be held from January 30 to February 1, 2025, at the Belgrade Fairgrounds. This prestigious event represents a key opportunity to connect local and regional fruit and vegetable producers with major buyers, distributors, and retail chains.
The B2B Zone – A New Opportunity for Growth and Collaboration
The fair offers a unique B2B zone that allows individual meetings and direct communication with potential partners. In addition to the exhibition, participants will have the chance to attend conferences covering the most important topics in the industry. The program will cover current market trends, forecasts for 2025, buyer requirements, available financing sources, and other significant aspects.
Buyers from All Over Europe – A Chance to Strengthen Serbia’s Export Position
The fair will host buyers from Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Romania, Hungary, and other European countries. Additionally, a large number of regional buyers, including leading retail chains, will be attending. “Our buyers, who have been in the market for a long time, are looking for professional producers of fresh peppers, plums, and berries. Their demand for suppliers from Southeast Europe is growing, opening new opportunities for our producers,” says Vladimir Živanović, director of the Agro Belgrade fair.
Serbia’s Fruit and Vegetable Exports – Prospects and Challenges
Although the fruit and vegetable sector accounts for around 4% of Serbian exports, the total value of these exports exceeds one billion euros. The most significant Serbian export items in this sector are frozen raspberries, fresh apples, and blueberries, with a notable increase in blueberry exports in recent years. However, exports face price declines and competition from other countries like Ukraine and Poland. The growing demand in new markets such as India and Saudi Arabia provides opportunities for export diversification.
The Need for a More Efficient Market Approach
According to Professor Nenad Magazin, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Novi Sad, this sector has significant growth potential but also room for improvement. “A more efficient market approach is crucial for the growth of this sector. Our producers need the opportunity to present themselves locally and connect with buyers to strengthen their position in international markets,” adds Magazin.
