Lyon, December 3, 2024 – At the Autocar Expo held from December 3 to 6 in Lyon, IVECO BUS revealed its latest addition to the electric vehicle lineup: the CROSSWAY ELEC. This innovative vehicle sets a new standard in the decarbonization of school and intercity transportation across Europe.
“With the launch of the CROSSWAY ELEC, alongside the already available Low Entry version, we demonstrate our ability to provide electric solutions tailored to every mission,” said Giorgio Zino, Head of Commercial Operations at IVECO BUS Europe. “This new model is a breakthrough that enables IVECO BUS, the European market leader, to support operators in their transition to electric mobility. With deliveries starting in 2025, the CROSSWAY ELEC offers an effective solution well ahead of the CO2 reduction targets set for 2030.”
The CROSSWAY ELEC combines the proven strengths of the CROSSWAY range with the advantages of IVECO BUS’s cutting-edge electric mobility solutions. Available in 12- and 13-meter versions, the vehicle offers exceptional flexibility, allowing operators to choose between 3 and 6 battery packs to suit their specific needs.
For school transportation requiring daily distances of up to 200 km, configurations with 3 or 4 battery packs—mounted on the roof and in the rear compartment—optimize space without compromising luggage capacity. Configurations with 5 or 6 battery packs increase the total energy capacity to 415 kWh, providing a range of 450 to 500 km.
The CROSSWAY ELEC is powered by a 290 kW SIEMENS Elfa III electric motor, delivering an impressive torque of 3000 Nm. It can be recharged at depots using a CCS Combo 2 plug and features a modern dashboard that provides real-time battery status updates to the driver.
In addition to its technical performance, the vehicle is part of a comprehensive ecosystem that includes tailored services for deploying electric fleets (Energy Mobility Solutions) and digital management tools (IVECO ON).
True to its European roots, the CROSSWAY ELEC will be manufactured at the Vysoke Myto plant in the Czech Republic. The 13-meter-long model showcased in Lyon is equipped with 4 battery packs, accommodates up to 61 passengers, and offers a luggage capacity of 6.2 m³.
