From June 3 to 19, farmers in Lower Saxony, Bremen, and Hamburg can apply for subsidies through the German Agricultural Investment Promotion Program (AFP). In 2025, the program puts a spotlight on sustainable, environmentally friendly technologies — making it especially relevant for farms in alpine and mountainous regions.
Eligible investments include precision crop protection equipment, low-emission slurry distribution systems, and livestock housing that meets high animal welfare standards — all essential for modern mountain agriculture.
Only specific technologies are subsidized, such as sprayers with sensors or multi-chamber systems, and slurry systems that directly inject into the soil. The minimum investment is €20,000 (net), with a maximum of €2 million.
Applications are scored based on a point system, with priority given to eco-friendly, climate-smart solutions — reinforcing sustainable farming models across sensitive alpine landscapes.
