On its 50th anniversary, Irritec, a leader in precision irrigation, introduced the innovative Armonia® and SFIDA systems, offering new solutions for sustainable water resource management in agriculture. At a press conference held during the international EIMA 2024 exhibition in Bologna, the company highlighted its achievements in environmental protection technology and improvements in agricultural product quality.
Award-Winning Innovation: SFIDA
SFIDA, an intelligent fertigation system, was developed in collaboration with Italy’s Ministry of Economic Development and prominent universities, such as La Sapienza University in Rome and the University of Catania. This IoT system aims to optimize resources and enhance the nutritional value of products. Tests have shown significant improvements, such as a 113% increase in iron content in tomatoes, as well as notable increases in manganese and zinc in carrots.
The SFIDA system uses an intelligent “Commander” control unit that analyzes satellite and field data to make forecasts and automate fertilization, offering comprehensive and continuously updated control.
Armonia® – A System that Preserves the Natural Landscape
The new Armonia® system provides a comprehensive irrigation solution, designed to minimize environmental impact. This system easily adapts to various terrains and is intended for agricultural fields, gardens, and green spaces.
Green Fields Program – Reducing CO2 and Recycling Materials
As part of its commitment to sustainable development, Irritec leads the “Green Fields” program, offering products with a reduced carbon footprint and a higher recycled material content. Irritec also organizes the collection of used drip lines from agricultural fields, encouraging the use of secondary raw materials among farmers. In 2023 alone, by using recycled materials, Irritec reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 15,016 tons.
A Future with Responsibility and Innovation
The company’s founder and CEO, Carmelo Giuffrè, expressed gratitude to everyone who has contributed to Irritec’s development. “Over the past fifty years, we have developed technologies that save water and improve yields worldwide. We remain committed to innovating in harmony with the needs of local communities and to preserving the natural beauty of our planet,” Giuffrè said.
Irritec’s innovations and global strategies enable farmers in 120 countries to reduce water consumption, fertilizer usage, and CO2 emissions, actively supporting the goals of the 2030 Agenda and the United Nations.
